DMM-AAI Week 4 – Common Clinical Conditions – 2026

Description: This course continues the 18-day Adult Attachment Interview course by adding discourse analysis for common clinical conditions. The course will cover as many of the following topics as can fit in the 6 days: Dp, Ut&l(dp), A/C, [ina], Utr&l(ds&p, dpl, b, v), Δ, DO, AC. The remaining topics and A7 & A8, will be covered in Week 5.

Instructor: Patricia Crittenden, PhD

Dates: 6 days, Oct 18-20 and Oct 22-24, 2026.

Time: 10am-2pm for each session, plus afternoon/evening homework.

Location: Black Mountain, NC (USA). Street address will be provided upon registration.

Content: This course teaches discourse analysis and classification for the AAI for frequently encountered clinical conditions. It does not include psychosomatic disorders and severe criminal behavior (which are in Week 5).

Prerequisites:

1. Completion of the 18-day Basic AAI course.
2. Certificate of Interviewing from the 18-day basic course (based on feedback from your 3 submitted AAIs). Late AAIs may be submitted before Feb. 28, 2026.
3. Coding reliability is not required.
4. The ANP Reading Course is recommended (contact Clark Baim: cbaim@hotmail.com).

Language: English.

Course requirement: 1 transcribed and formatted AAI, with consent, 5-6 Questions and a 1-page history. All to be in Word (not pdf).

Benefits to clinicians of taking Week 4: Application of the AAI classificatory method to most clinical and child protection cases. Forensic and psychosomatic cases are not covered, but depend upon the information in Week 4. Registration for Week 5 which covers these topics requires completion of Week 4.

Cost:

The registration fee covers the course, teaching AAIs used in the course, and the AAI Glossary. It does not cover any practice AAIs after the course, nor a reliability test. Enrolment is not guaranteed until payment is made. Payment is non-refundable. Invoicing and receipts involve extra charges.
