Adult Attachment Interview training – For normative and mild clinical conditions (Miami and online)

This course teaches discourse analysis for the AAI, for normative and (mild) out-patient clinical applications of the AAI, using the DMM method. There is weekly coding work between the sessions and a requirement to submit 3 AAIs carried out by the course participant, and a reliability test following the course. This work must be completed to receive certificates for administering and coding AAIs.

A didactic Advanced ‘Week 4’ Clinical Course will be offered later for more serious clinical and forensic applications.

Dates: 18 days. Jan. 4-9 2022, Mar 15-20, 2022, & May 30 -June 5, 2022.

Location: on-line by Zoom or in person in Miami, FL, USA

Time: US timezone (Miami). The course begins at 2pm on the first day of each session and ends at 1pm on the last day of each session. Otherwise, full days of work consisting of coding in the morning, feedback sessions (12pm-1pm), and class work in the afternoon (2pm-6pm).

Note if you are taking the course by Zoom: You will need to be present before the course time and should NOT plan to work in your normal job.

Prerequisite: course participants should have taken Attachment & Psychopathology before completing the AAI course (i.e., A&P may be taken concurrently). 

In special cases, I will consider whether reading Raising Parents with written assignments can be sufficient, but this will (a) be decided individually, (b) not exclude anyone who had taken A&P, and (c) not exceed the course limit of participants.

Language: English for the course, but practice and the reliability test can be partly in selected other languages if needed.

Cost: $3000 before Sept 30, 2021; $3400 beginning October 1, 2021

The registration fee covers the course, plus feedback on participant’s AAIs, practice transcripts between sessions, and the reliability test. Enrolment is not guaranteed until payment is made. Payment must be complete before the course is begun. All payments are non-refundable. Invoicing and receipts involve extra charges.
