Attachment, Neurodevelopment & Psychopathology – Reading Course 2026

15 Febbraio - 26 Aprile

This reading course will provide you with an overview of the most important theory, research and clinical material related to the Dynamic-Maturational Model (DMM) of Attachment and Adaptation. This course of reading is a prerequisite for people who have attended the ANP course and who wish to apply for the Screening Functional Formulation (SFF) course. If you do not go forward for the SFF course, this reading course will still be a valuable opportunity for you to deepen your knowledge of the DMM and its applications to your work. In addition, this course
prepares you for the assessment of attachment courses (e.g., CARE-Index, AAI). This course is accredited by the Family Relations Institute.

Prerequisites: Participants must have already taken Attachment, Neurodevelopment & Psychopathology (ANP).

Instructor: Clark Baim, PhD (UKCP, BPA), Faculty member of the Family Relations Institute.

Description: This course will provide readings to expand on the material in ANP. The course has a summative test of content (the test is open-book) and a brief project.

Language: English.

Practical note: The course will be conducted entirely via email.

Dates: February 15th through April 26th, 2026.

Assignments:

  1. Every two weeks: Each participant will submit a summary of key learning from each reading (1 paragraph or 200-word limit)  and a question that the reading leaves unanswered.
  2. At the end: brief content test, and a brief case study (~1000 words) or expanded annotated bibliography (minimum 5 entries).

Important details on Readings and Assignment deadlines are reported here: ANP Readings Course Description Feb to April 2026.

Course materials: Raising Parents (second edition) and Attachment & Family Therapy are the course texts and must be obtained by the student. Some of the other readings have been distributed as ANP material, others are available through libraries and other sources. The trainer will be able to send you most of the other readings. For some of the readings, you may need to access online resources / websites.

A certificate of completion of the course will be given if 80% of the course readings are completed, with paragraph and question(s) submitted on time for each article or chapter. The written test is pass / fail, as is the case study. At the end of the course, Dr. Baim will email each person with their results – i.e. pass / fail the course. The certificate will come from FRI based on passing the course.

Cost: USD $300 if paid before January 25th 2026, otherwise $400, payable to Dr. Clark Baim via PayPal at this email address (which is his PayPal account name): cbaim@hotmail.com.
